Sony DSC-S70 Instructions for OneShot360™
Recommended Camera Settings for OneShot360
- Use the Zoom to exactly fill the digital camera LCD viewer screen with the circular image. This is done by using the zoom on the back of the camera. If you zoom in too much, you will lose part of the field of view. If you zoom in too little, you will not get maximum resolution. Note also that the OneShot image may not be exactly centered in the LCD screen – this is normal.
- Make sure the flash is disabled by pressing the flash button located above the LCD screen until you see the “flash off” icon on the LCD.
- To focus your OneShot image with the Sony DSC-S70 camera, press the focus button until the desired distance is shown on the LCD panel. We recommend a setting of 3 meters (or 9 3/4 ft.)
- Put your Sony DSC-S70 in aperture priority mode by pressing the program AE button located above the screen until you see the symbol for aperture priority.
Then press the “+” button until you reach an aperture of f6.8.
- *Note: aperture priority mode may not be suitable for low light or some indoor shooting conditions because the camera will not allow a shutter speed slower than 1/30 of a second while in this mode. This would mean the image would not be properly exposed if using a small aperture. To work around this limitation, you can use shutter priority mode, and use a shutter speed that would give you the desires
f#. Also, make sure you are using a tripod when shooting with a slow shutter speed.
Press the MENU button and use arrow buttons to:
- Under the CAMERA menu, set the white balance. Auto is usually fine for most shots.
- Under the FILE menu, set the image size to 2048(3:2) for best quality.
- Under the CAMERA menu, set the Sharpness to “0” for best compromise between tonal range and contrast.
- Select the self timer by using the left arrow, then press the MENU button to confirm the use of the timer. Pressing the MENU button again will shut the timer off.
Recommended Camera Settings for OneShot360Plus
When taking 360x360 images, follow all of the above instructions, and the additional instructions below. Because the Oneshot360Plus uses 4 images, it is best to make sure that all 4 images have the same exposure. This will ensure the end result will have a continuous tone and density throughout the image. The best way to do this is to:
- Look at the aperture and shutter speed settings shown in the lower left of the LCD screen. If the numbers change while shooting the 4 360 shots needed for a 360x360, then the exposure is changing between shots. Try to make the scene as evenly balanced with the same type of light as possible. For example, close window shades and turn on interior lights.
- You can also try setting the white balance to HOLD. To do this, press the MENU button and navigate through the camera options, to the white balance setting. Select HOLD. This will keep the white balance setting from changing between shots.
